You can watch the contestants during the contest and see their completed creations for free.
However, in order to see the modeling and performance contests you must purchase a ticket and attend the final party.
Contest summary
The contests are one of the main events at Twisters 2014 in Sapporo.
People who want to apply or show their creations in the contests are required to read the following contest rules thoroughly.
Your entries should accompany your Twisters 2014 application.

How to Enter
Fill-out the contest entry form with your Twisters 2014 application.
Contestants must pay an entrance fee.
Important Note
The artist retains all copyrights for their creations.
The artists must agree to publish their creations photos on the official Twisters 2014 website.
Artists are not allowed to re-create copyrighted creations of other artists.
If the creations don't satisfy the theme or size criteria, the committee withholds the right to refuse acceptance of said creation(s).
The artists themselves must make their own creations completely.
If someone else helps the artists the creations will be disqualified.
Artists must supply own balloons.

- Rules
Your creations must be made and delivered by you.
Creations must be 80cm(H)×80cm(W)×80cm(D).
Creations can be made anywhere and there is no time limit.
All balloons must be pencil or latex balloons.
Foil/Deco, Etc. balloons are not allowed.
Frames and Helium are also not allowed.
Glue, seals and marker pens are allowed, but overuse could affect your evaluation.
If using copyrighted characters or celebrities portraits, prior permission is required and you must show the certification to the Twisters 2014 committee.
You must supply your own balloons.

※You can do maintenance in order to repair your creations. However, if you change or remake your creations after the exhibition, you will be disqualified.
※In case of damage caused by an act of God or product flaw during the display period, you must report the fact and repair according to the instructions of the director.

- Judgment
The prizes will be ranked by the total score made by special judges and public representatives.
Each representative has one vote to place for their favorite creation.
There are four special judges. Each judge pays attention to one aspect, such as technique, design, theme, originality and quality. Each category has five points, so the total score made by five judges will be on a 25-point scale.
- Copyrights
The copyrights of the creations belong to the artist.
Twisters 2014 committee will use the photos of your creations on its website.

The Twist 15 contest will be held just after the opening ceremony on Sat. June 21st 2014.
We will take attendance in front of the main stage at 9:30am and give you instructions about the contest program and rules.

When entries are more than 8 teams, we will screen through your designs and decide the contestants.
- Schedule
You must get together in the main room at 12:00pm on Sat. June 21st.
- Preparation
After instructions, you must arrange your balloons and tools in place and wait until staff gives a starting signal.
You can create from 12:30pm - 15:30pm.
After you finish, put a plate with the title and introduction and leave.

- Rules
Three pre-registered members make up a team.
Replacement of the members is not allowed except for an emergency case.
When an emergency case happens on the contest day, substitutes may be admitted, but it's by the director's decision.
Pre-registered members can take a rest anytime.
Please make sure to stay adequately hydrated during creating.
Creations must be 200cm (H) x 150cm (W) x 150cm (D)
Creations are made in front of the public.
The judges and the audience can watch the artists create.
You can't inflate or cut balloons, make a knot and so on before the contest starts.
Stands and poles (up to 200cm) are allowed however, you must supply them yourself.
You must use twist or rubber balloons. You can't use foil or deco balloons.
You must supply your own balloons.
Silk guts, wires, seals and pens are allowed but overuse could affect your evaluation.
You must report the materials you use for your creations on the same paper as the title and introduction.
Each team can use one electric blower. Other types of blowers are allowed but you must report what kind you use.
Un-desirable designs are not allowed.
If you harm other contestants or other creations, talk too loud or cause trouble, you will be disqualified.
You can answer interview questions by judges or media but speaking with the audience is not allowed.
You must not cheat and or give the audience any gifts as you will lose points or be disqualified.
We will announce to the audience not to talk to the contestants, ask for some gifts or disturb them during creating.

The contestant's creation that best represents the theme will be the winner.

When entries are more than 12 people, we will choose 12 contestants through prior examination by paper and video.
- Rehearsal
Contestants for the opening round have a rehearsal from 7:00am to 9:00pm on Sat. June 21st in the main room.
Contestants who make it to the championship round have a rehearsal from 19:30pm to 21:00pm on Sat. June 21st in the main room.

- Rules of the opening round
Preparation time is two minutes, performance for five minutes and pulling out for two minutes by yourselves.
When you run past the time limit, you will be stopped by a signal.
You may result if you break these rules or deviate from the theme or your creations are deemed un-desirable.
You must not eat and drink during the performance and have alcohol before the performance.
Dangerous performances, helium and any liquid are not allowed.
You can use the other tools but overuse could affect your evaluation.
Judges give importance not to the creation itself but to the quality of the performance.
It's better to use twist balloons than other balloons.
If using copyrighted characters or celebrities portraits, prior permission is required and you must show the certification to the Twisters 2014 committee.
You must supply your own balloons or tools.

Top four contestants advance to the championship round.
We will post the results at the entrance of the main room by 19:30pm on Sat. June 21st.

The Sunset Room on the second floor for women.
The side room of the main stage on the first floor for men.
- Schedule
Contestants for both Dress section and Costume section must get together at 11:30pm on Sun. June 22nd in each dressing room.

We will take attendance in the dressing rooms.
You must meet there wearing your dress or costume.
- Preparation
We will give you instructions and then move to the contest room through the back corridor.
Costume contest starts first then Dress contest starts.
Women start first; men stand by beside the stage.

Go to the center of the stage one by one and give a presentation for one minute.
Only CDs can be used for BGM. (not iPhones or MP3 players) Once turned on, the CD can only be turned off at the end of the performance.
- Rules
Your dress or costume must be 250cm(H) x 150cm(W) x 150cm(D) when you put it on.
Your dress or costume must be removable and a model must walk putting it on.
Your creations must be made by only you but can be delivered by anyone else.
A model can be the artist or someone else.
When the artist is a model, only one person can enter the dressing room and help put it on.
You can use twist and rubber balloons.
You can use wire, frame, flower tape, glue, seal or pens.
Helium and foil/deco balloons are not allowed.
Creations can be made anywhere.
You can use any electric tools however, power sources are limited.
Please bring manual or battery powered tools in case there is a reduction of power.
You must supply your balloons and tools.
